One of the winners of the Open Culture Data Challenge. In this virtual museum the visitor organizes his own exhibition from the collections of the Rijksmuseum, Museum Amsterdam and the National Archive.

Paleis voor Volksvlijt
(1864-1929)

On the initiative of Samuel Sarphati, Amsterdam opened its own Crystal Palace in 1864. A spectacular fire ended this remarkable building in 1929.

Haus der Deutschen Kunst
(1937-1944)

In the Haus der Kunst in Munich modern art is shown these days. Yet in 1937 it was inaugurated as the Haus der Deutschen Kunst and showed German propaganda art up until the end of the second world war.

(1937)

Coinciding with the propaganda exhibition of "good" art in the Haus der Deutschen Kunst, a little further in the Galeriestraße in Munich "degenerate" art was shown.
